DUNLAP-A family is trying to figure out what's next after lightning causes their house to catch fire.
It broke out around 8:30 p.m. at 10501 Pauli Rd. on Saturday. Authorities say lightning hit the roof and started the fire. Flames grew so large they could be seen for miles.
Three people were inside a nearby garage when it all happened. They were unharmed.
But it's unclear if the family dog made it out alive.
Sunday morning, family friend Toni Kromphardt decided to go looking for the pet. They say it's the least she can do with everything this family's dealing with.
"I think anybody that would lost their home and all their personal belongings, i can't even imagine. So i don't know. If this is my only contribution to do something to help her out, that's what we're going to try to do," said Kromphardt.
Numerous fire departments were needed to put the fire out. But the flames did rekindle again Sunday morning. The house is a total loss.
