WMBD/WYZZ-TV STAFF - BLOOMINGTON, IL - As the team's offensive coordinator last season, Dusty Burk thought he still had some fuel left in the tank.
"I was given a great opportunity by coach Carr to give it one more chance. Felt like what a great opportunity," said Dusty Burk, Edge Quarterback.
He's taken advantage of the second chance. Burk passed for a team record 57 touchdowns this season, and his offensive line kept him upright long enough to throw over 28-hundred yards.
"I think this is the least I've been hit in my years playing here," said Burk. First time I think I made it through a regular season playing through all the games because they proteted me so well."
Not only can Burk play, but he can teach too.
"As the QB for the Bloomington Edge and Head Coach of U-High football team,
Dusty has to memorize two playbooks, which can be very confusing."
"The terminology more than anything," said Burk. "I want to call a play in Edge terminology
as opposed to U-High terminology or vice versa. So once in a while I catch myself slipping."
"On the field, or on the sidelines, Burk is a proven leader of high schoolers and grown men...all in search for a championship."
"Lot of high strung character guys that fit together and really bought in to playing
for eachother," said Burk.
