NORMAL-Some people in the Twin Cities headed out to the pool to keep their cool today.

Staff at Fairview Pool in Normal say the hot temperatures have kept the facility pretty busy over the holiday weekend.

Jumping in the pool was one way to cool off, but people we talked to brought along some other ways to beat the heat today.

Pool patron, Lisa Zaroogian said, "Well, water bottles we brought with us, lots of sunscreen and resting in between the things that they do. They have to have some down time and keep drinking lots and lots of water."

One thing to keep in mind when you head out to the pool is to re-apply sunscreen every so often.

Water can often intensify the sun's rays and it also washes off your sunscreen over time.
