Taking Action: Local Church Gets Drivers Discount on Gas

Some drivers got a pleasant surprise Saturday.
Pekin's First Church of God helped them buy gasoline at a discounted rate.
Drivers got a dollar off each gallon...up to 10 gallons of gas.
Mothers with children received two dollars off each gallon.
First Church Pastor Johnny Creasong says the church's mission is to help people any way it can.
Getting a bargain on fuel is something everyone can be thankful for.
"Everybody hurts when they get to the gas pump. When they talk about gas prices...it's always in the negative," said Creasong. "So, this way we can help the community. We can give back to them."
Church members collected more than $2,000 dollars for the one day event.
It's the congregation's third time surprising drivers.
