Shaving Heads for a Good Cause

NORMAL - If you've seen the I-S-U baseball team lately... you know they've really let their hair go.
But tonight... They're looking a little more like themselves.
And the transformation was the team's way of taking action for kids in need.
Many baseball players express themselves with their hair..
Pitcher Chris Razo says, "Its kinda like an accessory for us. We don't have a lot of things we can do - when you got your hair flowing out the back it's kinda a good look."
But the I-S-U baseball team grew their hair out for a different reason... just to shave it all off.
Director of Marketing, LB Nagle, says, "This was actually an idea that came from the baseball team. This was their idea, and they approached me to do it."
The team took buzzers to theirs heads Sunday for the Saint Baldrick's Foundation - an organization that puts on events like this for childhood cancer research. When the team decided they wanted to do this - head coach Mark Kingston waived his short hair policy.
Head Coach Mark Kingston says, "Once we decided we're going to be a part of this organization - the kids were allowed to grow their hair out however they wanted to make this that much more of a special event."
And it was special for them... but the team admits they're ready to lose their locks.
Chris Razo says, "Right now - I'm pretty annoyed with it, so I'm looking forward to get rid of it."
Chad Hinshaw says, "This feels real good. Besides, the hard work of getting it - it feels real good."
And they feel better knowing its going to help sick kids.
Coach Kingston says, "If you can't get behind trying to fight cancer in children , I just don't know what you can do."
The team had a goal of raising five thousand dollars for Saint Baldrick's.
As of today - they were up to seven thousand.
