BLOOMINGTON--It's an ongoing investigation that's bringing more officers to the scene and witnesses in for questioning.
Police say two men were spotted running into Main Street traffic Thursday morning firing shots at an area that's been in the middle of gunfire.
"These are possibly the same suspects and the same possible victim every time," said Bloomington Police Public Information Officer Dave White.
For the past few days police have responded to shots fired in 900 block of South Center street in Bloomington.
"Eventually somebody's going to get hit," said White. "I mean we've been fortunate nobody's been struck by any gunfire so far."
It's a busy area, and police say many people witnessed the shootings.
The first occurred Tuesday evening.
On Wednesday and Thursday, they happened in broad daylight.
"The house I believe they're shooting at is at 910 South Center Street," added White.
Neighbors say the crimes are a rude awakening, for a place that's normally quiet.
"At first we didn't even know if that's really what the sounds were," said Linda Munshi. "We're not familiar with the sound of real bullets being fired."
"At night you can hear the crickets. It's nothing," adds neighbor Deborah Lesher. "To have something like this happen is just horrendous."
Lesher has lived in the area for 13 years.
But she's not surprised the home in question could be a target for violence.
"We've complained about that house on Center Street before because we've seen a lot of coming and going and loud stuff in the last year."
Until police break the case, residents are taking extra precautions to keep their families safe.
"This is just far and beyond, they need to do something about it," said Lesher.
Police say a black car was spotted speeding away from the scene this morning.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bloomington Police at 434-2371.
