WMBD/WYZZ-TV - NORMAL, Ill. -- Illinois State may be looking at its past to lead the basketball program in the future.

Former player Dan Muller and ex-Redbird assistant coach Ray Giacoletti  will interview replace Tim Jankovich as ISU's head coach this week, according to CBS Sportsline.com. Muller is expected to interview Thursday.

Muller, a Missouri Valley Conference star during his ISU playing days from 1994-98, has spent the past 12 years as an assistant coach under former Redbird coach Kevin Stallings. Ironically, he got the Vandy job when Jankovich left to go to Illinois in 2002.

Giacoletti, an East Peoria native, was an assistant at ISU from 1990-93 under Bob Bender. He has spent the past five seasons as an assistant at Gonzaga after a three-year stint as head coach at Utash.
