PEORIA - Firefighters are trying to figure out how two buses at a private Peoria school caught fire.
It's a developing story we're following tonight. The fire happened around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at Peoria Christian School
Two school buses caught fire in the school parking lot. Peoria firefighters say the fire looks suspicious and could be arson.
One of the buses is totaled. The other is significantly damaged.
The school says it depends on those buses for field trips and athletic events. Now, some events could be canceled.
"We're good through the week. But if we don't find you know replacement buses that we can lease, we're probably going to have to cancel some field trips and find alternatives. Parents may have to drive to games and that sort of thing," said superintendent Steve Hutton.
The school says the buses were donated and it doesn't know where it will find the money to replace them.
