Tonight, she was awarded for it.
Jenifer Reffett was the recipient of the Marvin Cheney Achievement Award
presented by the Heart House in Eureka.
She was the first ever to win the
award. Once living in a homeless
shelter, Reffet, a single mother, was able to find a job and a place to live. Now
she plans to go back to school.
Jenifer Reffett said, "The things that
I do, it makes me proud that I can show my kids that, so that maybe when they
get to that point - where a high schooler is now or where a college student is
now - they will know that they need to continue what they do to make it in
life."
The Heart House also gave out their
volunteer of the year award which went to Trixie Jones.
