PEORIA-Parents usually fear taking their little ones to the hospital. But that wasn't the case Thursday at Methodist Medical Center.
In recognition of "Bring Your Child to Work Day," kids of Methodist employees got the opportunity to check out what their parents do for a living. The kids shadowed medical professionals and enjoyed various activities.
They learned about everything from x-rays to maintaining a healthy diet. Methodist says it's a way to get kids interested in health care.
"One, we want the kids to be a part of our family at Methodist, to have a respect for what their parents do. Because what we do it sacred work. And secondly, it's a recruiting tool. We want young people to get excited about careers in health care," said Jen White, manager of employee engagement at Methodist Medical Center.
Thirty kids enjoyed a day at the hospital. It's the first time Methodist has held the event in three years.
