A second floor amendment was introduced Tuesday in the Illinois Senate for a bill to raise the high school drop out age to 18, according to the Illinois General Assembly website. Despite a favorable vote in committee, some lawmakers have mixed feelings about the bill. While everyone seems in favor of keeping students in school, some say the state needs to provide more support for alternative programs if the drop out age is raised.
