A Bloomington man, who has already been convicted of hitting a police officer two years ago, is in trouble again. 31 year old Qualitian Jeffries was convicted Friday of resisting a peace officer with injury while the same jury found him NOT GUILTY of aggravated battery and domestic battery. Those charges stem from an incident in the 700 block of West Monroe in Bloomington. Police and prosecutors say a policeman was trying to stop a domestic dispute when Jeffries, who authorities describe as 6'5" nearly 300 pound man, struck an officer in the chin and continued hitting the officer in the chest and stomach. Police say Jeffries then attempted to pull a knife on the officers. Finally police say they subdued Jeffries by striking him in the head with a flashlight. Court records indicate Jeffries was convicted of resisting arrest in 2009 when he allegedly hit an officer with his car. Jeffries was sentenced to jail and probation at that time. Jeffries will be sentenced for this latest crime in June.
