PEORIA--Voter support for electrical aggregation has the city scouting for low cost electric companies.

City leaders are working to send out bids to other suppliers.

And, they're looking for the company with the best price.

Currently most customers use Ameren which costs about 6.6 cents per kilowatt hour.

Meantime customers continue to get ads for low cost suppliers in the mail.

Until an agreement is reached by the city, leaders caution residents to not make the switch just yet.

"You might want to wait until the city aggregated price comes out," said Special Projects Manager Chris Setti.  "That way you can do some comparison between what you're being offered now and what you'll be able to get under the aggregated price."

If customers are satisfied with Ameren, they can still choose to keep their service.

A letter allowing people to opt out of electrical aggregation will be sent out by the end of May.
