Taking Action: Officers Stay Atop Doughnut Shop for Special Olympics

BLOOMINGTON--The roof of Denny's Doughnuts seemed a bit livelier Thursday afternoon.
That's because deputies with the McLean County Sheriff's Department, sat on top of it, raising money for Special Olympics.
The officers stayed on top of the business for 12 hours, in hopes of getting more people to satisfy their sweet tooth and support the cause.
All proceeds will be donated to the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run this summer.
McLean County Sheriff's Detective Sara Bernabei say giving 12 hours of her time to see the athletes succeed is worth every minute.
"For me to give up one day of 12 hours it's not really a huge sacrifice because when the summer games rolls around and we go and we see the athletes who we are raising money for it's so overwhelming. It goes right to my heart."
This is the first year for deputies on deck at Denny's.
Officers hope to raise $1,000 dollars for Special Olympics.
