EAST PEORIA - As work begins to ramp up for East Peoria's Downtown Project, so will jobs for the area.
Over the coming months, half-a-dozen projects are expected to break ground, including a Holiday Inn and Morton Community Bank.
These projects are expected to bring about four-hundred construction jobs to the area over the next year.
City leaders say job creation won't stop once the work on the new buildings is done.
"Each of these projects represent a certain amount of new employees to the area," says Ty Livingston, director of planning and community development for East Peoria. "We've got new stores that are opening. We've got the bank. We've got the hotel, the library. All of these projects add some new jobs that are full-time jobs."
Other projects expected to begin breaking ground soon include a Target and Costco store.
