"On your mark, get set, go...."
That's what hundreds of people heard Monday morning in downtown Peoria as they took off for the 2nd annual "Operation Santa" race.
Military members were on hand to help get the runners started. People had the option of running four miles around O'Brien Field or walking one mile.
Even Congressman Aaron Schock laced up his sneakers. People say despite the wet weather, they were eager to start Memorial Day on the right foot.
Wesley Schrader, a Navy Seal said, "It kind of brings you together as a group and as a junior Navy Seals program, it's good for team building and physical fitness."
Proceeds from the race will go towards shipping 35-thousand stockings to troops overseas for Christmas.
