Man in Critical Condition After Being Shot by Officer

WMBD/WYZZ – PEORIA -- A man is in critical condition after being shot by a Peoria police officer.
Police responded around on 1:00 a.m. to the 900 block of Greenlawn Street where they found a man struggling with a woman. The man fled on foot when police arrived, he was pursued by an officer. During the chase, the man pointed a handgun at the police officer, who fired a single shot into the man's stomach.
The man was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
The Peoria Police Department is investigating. We'll have more information for you as it becomes available.
