An accused spree killer, who is also charged with causing a recent skirmish at the Knox County jail, changed his mind Friday about representing himself when he appeared in Knox County court. Nicholas Sheley decided against representing himself on charges stemming from an incident at the jail. He was indicted this week on three counts of aggravated battery, one count of criminal damage to property and one count of aggravated assault. Those charges stem from an incident last month in which Sheley allegedly caused a disturbance and punched a deputy. Several deputies received minor injuries in the fracas. Sheley still faces charges for a two state killing spree in which eight people were killed including a 65 year old Galesburg man.
