Rain Makes Soggy Planting Season

TV – PEORIA COUNTY -- Soggy fields are threatening farmer's planting season. Most of
the corn crop should be in the ground, but only 4% is planted in Illinois. Compare
that to Iowa which has almost half of the corn planted.
Farmers
need at least a week for the fields to dry out before they can put in corn, but
last night alone brought one to two inches of rain.
The
Peoria County Farm Bureau says it's still too early to tell if a delayed
planting season will affect corn yields.
