A bill which would ban sending text messages while driving was given the green light Wednesday by the Illinois House. The bill would allow police to pull over and ticket drivers texting while behind the wheel. Under the law, you could still text if your car was parked. Supporters estimate 120 people are killed each week nationwide from using their cell phones or texting while driving. Opponents wonder how police are going to be able to tell whether people are texting or just punching in numbers to make a call, which would not be banned.
