Hinton to Recommend Closing Kingman & Irving Primaries

PEORIA - District 150 Superintendent Ken Hinton told teachers at Kingman and Irving Primary Schools today he'll recommend the school board close the school at the end of this school year. Hinton will make the recommendation at a school board meeting Monday. Kingman has been slated to possibly close for some time. Today's announcement comes as the district finds itself in an unprecedented budget crisis. On Tuesday, a school board member told WMBD 31 News the district is so short on cash , they won't be able to meet payroll in May without issuing bonds or hiking taxes.
