Dog "Heels" Patients

WMBD/WYZZ  - PEORIA -  Most of us have delivered the command "heal" to a dog.  We'll one Peoria Jack Russell Terrier is taking "healing" to a whole new level.  Each week, Abner and his owner, Don Biner, visit with patients on the Methodist Medical Center rehab, oncology and pediatric floors.  Abner and Don have been coming to the medical center for more than two years.  Program organizers say the chance to see Abner relaxes patients and helps them forget about their illness for awhile.  Another added pet therapy bonus, studies show interaction with dogs lowers pulse and blood pressure.
