Veteran Honored

 WMBD/WYZZ- PEORIA - A Peoria man receives a special honor for his work in the community and with veterans.  Don Uphoff is honored Friday by the Illinois Department of Veteran's Affairs and is awarded the "Veteran of the Month Award" in Glasford.  Uphoff is a veteran of the Korean War.  He's spear-headed fallen veteran memorials in Glasford, Kingston Mines and Mapleton.  "It's an honor, really it is,” Uphoff says.  “A lot of people helped with this thing.  These things that have happened are not on man's doing.  It took a lot of people to get this done."  To nominate a veteran for the award, click here .
