TV – PEORIA -- Illinois' Comptroller was
in Central Illinois to talk about the state's budget with some concerned
citizens. Dan Hynes says we'll
be facing a nine-billion-dollar deficit in the next fiscal year. And many state
agencies are still waiting on their funding.
Hynes
says the state has six-billion-dollars of
back logged debt. More than one-and-a-half
billion dollars of that debt comes from the Department of Health Care
and Family Services. Hynes says it's essential to pay that debt so the state
doesn't add to the economic crisis.
Governor
Quinn should be addressing how they plan to tackle the state's budget next
week. Hynes says the state has been spending out of its means for years.
