Taxing Questions

WMBD/WYZZ TV – PEORIA – It's Peoria County resident's chance to ask questions about a proposed sales tax to help pay for the Peoria Riverfront Museum.  County board members were on hand to educate and inform the public on what the tax means for them.  The proposed quarter of one percent sales tax will be a referendum on the April ballot.

The biggest question board members are hearing is "why now?"  Project leaders say the museum has been in development for almost a decade...  Citizens worry about any type of tax during a recession.

Peoria county voters will decide on the referendum April 7th.  Another Q&A forum will be held tomorrow at 6:30pm at the Neighborhood House on Matthew Street.
