A former West Peorian, accused of being a sleeper agent for the Al Qaeda terrorist organization, will be in federal court Tuesday in South Carolina for an extradition hearing. Ali Al Marri, who has been held in a military brig since 2003, is expected to be transferred back to Peoria to face conspiracy charges now that Al Marri is no longer considered to be an enemy combatant. Tuesdays hearing is the first since the case was moved to military to civilian courts. Last Friday, the U S Supreme Court refused to take up Al Marris challenge to his six year military detention.
