Telethon Recap

WMBD/WYZZ TV – PEORIA -- It was close to a record year for the annual Easter Seals Telethon, which aired on WMBD Saturday night. This year's event raised over two million, three-thousand dollars for the organization, just under last year's total.

Throughout the evening more than 200 volunteers happily gave up their Saturday to answer phones.

Families struggling to pay mounting medical bills use Easter Seals for physical and speech therapy, as well as other services.

Transportation Director, Ray LaHood, was proud to learn that a fundraiser he had earlier in the year raised one million dollars for Easter Seals. He and his wife started an endowed fund for cerebral palsy.
