Lawmakers Help out the Underdog

WMBD/WYZZ TV/RNS – SPRINGFIELD --  Illinois lawmakers are looking to overhaul the state's elections. Legislators from both houses are pushing proposals they call the Lincoln Act. The measures would create a public finance system for under funded candidates. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle hope it will cut down on the scandals involving campaign contributions.

The move follows the impeachment of disgraced former Governor Rod Blagojevich who's accused of pay to play politics and trying to sell President Barack Obama's former senate seat.
