WMBD/WYZZ TV - PEORIA -- Abraham Lincoln doesn't turn 200 until Thursday, but that's not stopping some from celebrating a little early.
Students at Washington's Beverly Manor Grade School were treated to a Lincoln impersonator Tuesday morning. The impersonator says when he portrays Lincoln, especially to children, he tries to make sure he puts Lincoln in a tangible light, someone everyone could relate to.
He says, "Lincoln was human, and he wasn't born on Mount Rushmore. He had his struggles and weaknesses and his uncertainties. He had to deal with a lot of things we have to deal with every day."
President Barack Obama will be in Springfield on Thursday for Lincoln's birthday celebration. He's scheduled to speak at the sold-out banquet at the Crown Plaza Hotel at seven. The president will also make a stop in Peoria while he's in Illinois.
