WMBD/WYZZ TV - PEORIA -- Woodruff High School is on the chopping block, and some students aren't going quietly.
Roughly 20 students walked out of the school just after nine Tuesday morning, shouted support for their school, waved a few signs, then walked back in.
District 150 school board members say closing Woodruff High School would help save the district from a more than $9 million deficit. This short protest won't go unnoticed as parents and teachers plan to voice their concerns about budget cuts at Tuesday night's school board meeting.
Other plans to save the district include closing Tyng, Irving and Kingman schools, along with merging Woodruff and Peoria High schools.
