Woman Severely Burned in Creve Couer Fire

WMBD/WYZZ - CREVE COUER -- A fire at a Creve Coeur apartment building Saturday leaves a woman with severe burns.

Firefighters from the Creve Coeur and East Peoria Departments responded to the fire at Ellington Apartments, at 401 Roosevelt St. about 2:00  p.m. Saturday.

Creve Couer Fire Chief Brad Gill says the woman was trapped on the first floor where the fire started.  She was treated at the scene for burns on her face and hands.  She was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center and then transferred to the burn center in Springfield.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $25,000 dollars.
