WMBD/WYZZ – SPRINGFIELD -- Governor Rod Blagojevich will be in Springfield Wednesday to swear in the newest class of state senators.

And lawmakers might not give him the warmest welcome. Senate officials say the governor does not have to preside over the ceremony. They say anyone can do it, and the governor's role is only cermonial.

Senate members will be sworn in just before taking up a resolution setting the rules for the Blagojevich's trial. New Illinois senate president, John Culletron, says he will call a vote on those rules.

Governor Rod Blagojevich will head to Chicago after the ceremony for a hearing on his federal corruption arrest.
