Dispose Prescription Safely in Tazewell County

By: WMBD/WYZZ News Staff
Updated: December 10, 2008

WMBD/WYZZ – EAST PEORIA -- The Tazewell County Health Department is asking you to take action for Illinois' water supply.

The department is holding another safe drop-off event Wednesday in East Peoria for unwanted prescription and over the counter medications. Organizers are also collecting your old compact fluorescent light bulbs. Experts say when you toss these leftovers in the trash; they can seep into the ground and release toxins into our public waterways. Tazewell county health officials will also offer nitrate well water samples for on-site screening.

The event is from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lowe's in East Peoria.
