A former Bartonville Grade School bookkeeper was indicted Tuesday for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from the school. 34 year old Penny Wells of Canton is facing one count of felony theft after allegedly admitting stealing nearly 8000 dollars from the school. Wells was the schools' bookkeeper for nearly two years until she quit last August. Then, the school suspected money was stolen but chose not to press charges. However, the school changed its mind in January when it was revealed more money was missing. Wells reportedly told police she used the money to pay living expenses for her and her daughter. She will answer the indictment Thursday.
