A court victory for the governor and a setback for thousands of retireed state government workers. A Springfield judge Tuesday threw out a lawsuit challenging changes in retirees health insurance. The new state law, signed by the governor in an effort to close the state's budget deficit, eliminates free or reduced cost health insurance for retirees of state government jobs. The judge found the new law doesn't violate the state constitution saying health care is not a guaranteed pension benefit. An appeal is expected.
