Houston Based Company Acquiring Ameren's Edwards Plant

A Houston based company is acquiring Ameren's coal fired plants in Illinois, including the Edwards plant in Bartonville. Dynegy will pay no cash for the acquisition and will assume Ameren's debt obligation of 825 million dollars. Local environment groups responded Thursday to the news. The Central Illinois Healthy Community Alliance is calling for a retirement of the Edwards coal plant claiming it would improve air and water quality in Peoria and surrounding areas.
