PEORIA - The Marriott Pere Marquette hotel developers could owe the city of Peoria more than $100,000 in fines.

The hotel was originally set to open on March 1, just in time for the influx of people that March Madness brings to the area.

Now that date keeps getting pushed back.

The Peoria City Manager Patrick Urich said developers owe the city $41,000 every month it's behind that initial March 1 deadline. He said, "So if it's one day or 31 days, it's $41,000. So hopefully they will understand that they need to try and expedite the opening but they can only move so fast."

He said the hotel is now planning to open early this summer.
