PEORIA- A first happened at Peoria City Council Tuesday night.
A new section, called first reading, is now on the council agendas.
It's so council members can hear reaction to any ordinance or rule change affecting the public, before voting on it.
The council will have a chance to ask questions at one meeting, they'll wait until the next meeting to take a vote.
Peoria City Manager Patrick Urich says the move will allow some issues to get a closer look.
"This is really a new procdure for us. I think that the council, at some of our government sessions, where we've talked, strategic planning meetings when we've talked about this, we realize we've had times where we haven't had enough debate over rule changes. This just allows us an additional opportunity to have that debate," says Urich.
