PEORIA - Visitors poured
into the Peoria Riverfront Museum for the museum's free Engineering Day event.
Families spent the
afternoon learning about the engineering field through hands on exhibits and
activities.
Director Education Sheldon
Schafer said the 20 year, ongoing event is even bigger and better this year at
the new museum.
He said the goal is to
honor the strong engineering we have in our community and to teach the younger
generation how important it can be. He said, "Late elementary school and junior
high, that's the time to show kids that engineering is fun. That's what today
is all about...showing kids and showing families not just what engineers do, but
that engineering is fun."
The museum said it had more than 600 visitors in just the first two hours.
