BLOOMINGTON- Just days after Alderman Bernie Anderson announced he's resigning from city council, a small business owner is throwing his hat in the ring.
Jamie Mathy has announced his write in candidacy for the ward one spot in the April ninth election.
A 15 year resident of Bloomington, and co-owner of Kelly's Bakery downtown, Mathy says focusing on a long term plan for economic growth is one of his top goals.
Meantime, the city is accepting applications for interim candidates to fill Anderson's vacant seat until next Thursday.
The current ward one alderman is leaving due to health reasons.
