Cookie Shack Moving Online Only

PEORIA- The Cookie Shack has been a Peoria staple, now it's closing its doors for good.

For 12 years, the cookie shack on Forrest Hill has made baked goods from scratch. Now the business is moving out of a building and onto a website.

People will still be able to order their favorite treats online at their website: www.cookieshackbakery.com.

Owner Brenda Ware said she's going to miss welcoming people into her store. The Cookie Shack has also served as a safe place for kids to hang out after school.

"As far as with the kids, that's my heart, you know, and I will miss the kids from Von Steuben you know and that and the other middle schools, but it was just a decision that you know, financially and you know, stressfully, just to take off some of the stress," Ware said.

Ware said they'll still continue baking classes, you just have to register online. If you want to find out more about the Cookie Shack's future, you can check out its open house Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

It will be at the Christian Community Center on Brandywine Drive, and Ware promises free cookies.
