The Ecology Action Center in Normal is taking action for Radon Awareness Month. The group held a meeting at the Normal Public Library today to discuss the impact of the deadly gas. Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer after smoking. Most people easily ignore it because it doesn't bother any senses. It is odorless, colorles and coordinators say despite the campaign efforts of warning citizens of the dangers of radon, people still have not taken action.
Ruth Ann Lipic of the Ecology Action Center says"Fixing your house is very simple. Testing your house is also very simple. The consequences of living in high radiation are drastic so it's such a health risk.
If you need a radon test kit you can pick one up at the Ecology Action Center in Normal.
