PEORIA- A Peoria man said he's tired of hearing so many negative comments so he created a Facebook page meant only for positive posts.

Kelly Beal is a server at Peoria's Famous City Bistro, and the first person to be mentioned on the Facebook Page, Positively Peoria.

"That's great, I'm so honored," Beal said.

"Our server was Kelly and she was fantastic," the post says.

The page's creator, Doug Brod, said it's all going according to plan.

"I think that people who do care about their job and display excellent customer service should be recognized," Brod said.

After just 2 days Positively Peoria had more than 100 Facebook likes, and that number kept growing.

"I hope that it will be used as a good referral source for people looking for a good service in the area," Brod said.

And he said he want's it to highlight the individual, not just the business. Brod said he wants people to post about a specific employee from any kind of service; from the guy who serves you coffee, to the person who mows your lawn. When they do, Brod calls the business and lets management know that one of their workers made a great impression.

Famous City Bistro Manager Patty Cirilli said it's nice to hear some good feedback for a change.
"The negative is what we see and what we hear and it's really nice to hear the positive being reinforced to people," Cirilli said.

"I'm so excited! You know you don't get a lot of accolades as a waitress so, you know, it's really nice to know that whatever it is I'm doing it's working," Beal said.

Beal said that one comment was encouragement enough to keep serving with a smile.

"It absolutely motivates me and now I'm going to have to turn my game up a notch, have to work on that," she said with a laugh.

Beal said that especially when times are tough, a little recognition goes a long way.
