PEORIA- District 150 says annual security meetings are taking place with the Connecticut school shooting in mind, so it's amping up on safety.
District schools are getting 40 new security cameras. Between schools and offices, the district already has 430 cameras in place.
Now administration wants that video surveillance to be shared with police.
"You know it might be safe for everyone to share those cameras with city police. That way if there is a response or something where they're responding to a building at night when nobody else is there they can see what is going on in the building before they enter," said Chris Coplan, PR Director for District 150.
Coplan said the new cameras should be installed within the next couple of weeks.
