Doctor
Jason Stringer said this year's flu is already worse than the past two seasons.
He said in 2011, there were only six confirmed cases at Peoria's Methodist
Medical Center by this time. In 2012, there were zero cases. Right now, there are
69 cases at Methodist.
Dr.
Stringer said usually the flu doesn't hit its peak until early spring. He said
he expects the number of cases to grow. "October through January is usually the
slower part of that and actually January through April we see a much higher
instance. Again, it is tough to predict but if you go by the last couple of
years I would expect it to get much worse."
He said it
isn't too late to get your flu shot. He said most people he's seen who have
suffered from the flu did not get a shot.
