PEORIA- Students at Irving Primary in Peoria will start off 2013 in a new school.

A $15.6-million addition to Lincoln Middle School will house all of the Irving students. Merging both schools into one kindergarten through eighth grade building. The addition is doubling the size of Lincoln Middle School.

After the ribbon was cut, dozens of students and their families got a tour through the new wing.

"The kids are so excited to be in a new space. Teachers are excited to be in the new space with the new smart boards and all the different things they'll be able to do here that they weren't able to do in the existing building," said Ursula Brown, who is now principal of Lincoln Middle and Primary Schools.

The building officially opens up to students on December 21st, the last day of the semester. The Irving students will be able to settle into their new classrooms before heading home for Christmas break.
