Firemen Urge Caution with Deep Frying Turkeys

Firemen are urging caution if you are planning to deep fry a turkey for Thanksgiving. Fire officials say deep frying a turkey in vat of boiling hot oil comes with significant fire and burn injury risk. Every deep fryer fires are responsible for about five deaths, 60 injuries, the destruction of 900 homes and more than $15 million in property damage, according to the latest stats from the National Fire Protection Association. If you choose to fry a turkey, firemen offer these tips: NEVER deep fry a frozen turkey; don't let oil get too hot; don't use too much oil; and NEVER deep fry indoors, not even in the garage. Firemen also say never leave the cooking oil unattended, not even for a second.
