SPRING VALLEY- It was an emotional day in Spring Valley as the community grieved the loss of a 17-year-old Daniel Lule.
Several hundred students, parents and community members paid respects to the junior football player. Lule died Wednesday after collapsing during football practice. His death shocked many in the community.
"He's such a good kid kid, funny kid. Everybody liked him," said organizer Gina Hill.
"They're tough kids. I don't know what to, I don't know what more I can say about them," said Hall High varsity football coach Randy Tiemen.
The crowd met a John F. Kennedy Elementary School, wearing red and black. Led by the varsity football team, the crowd walked several blocks to Lule's home and delivered flowers, cards, balloons and gifts to the family.
"That was awesome. Gave me goosebumps. That's the type of community we live in," said school administrator Debbi Evelhoch.
Lule's family, including his mother and two brothers, met the crowd at the front door. His mother was brought to tears as every person hugged her and her other boys.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Saint Anthony Catholic Church.
