PEORIA- Goodwill headquarters in Peoria is about to undergo a major renovation, it's expanding services to veterans and youth.
The store moved onto North University in Peoria. The old building on War Memorial drive will turn into Goodwill Commons and will be used for learning and development.
It will house computer and job training classrooms which can also double as community meeting and event spaces. Goodwill says this change goes along with what the organization is all about.
Goodwill re-purposes items from one family to the next and that funding goes "to programs that help local residents re-purpose their lives. And now we are re-purposing this facility," said Peggy Fuchs, President of Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois.
Renovations will start mid-August. Fuchs said they hope to be done within six to eight months.
