Cancer Researcher Named Peorian of the Year

Dr. Jasti Rao, head of cancer research at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria was named the first winner of the annual Peorian of the Year award presented Wednesday during a reception at the Par A Dice Hotel. The awarded was established by The Peorian and its parent company, AdCo Advertising Agency to honor a resident of Peoria region who through their work or avocation has improved the quality of life in the area. Also presented Wednesday was a $10,000 donation from The Peorian to Children's Hospital of Illinois in Dr. Rao's name.
